Has anyone else been sewing these out? I purchased the entire set, and I have sewn 3 of them so far, the monkey, the dog, and the lion. So far, the lion turned out the best, although his whiskers seem off in the design when you look at him. I used fleece on the monkey, and it was too thick. I put the zipper in inside out on the dog, so that doesn't look too good either. The lion turned out nicely. I used a piece of a cotton fat quarter and the material seems thick enough. I was really nervous having my embroidery go over the nylon zipper, but it worked just fine. Taping, the way the directions said, worked very well also.
It would be nice to hear what others have done. |

| It happens to be breast cancer week & I had my mammo today so I whipped up the little dress coin purse from the BC pink ribbon fabric, I also added a pink ribbon at the top while it was sewing so it can hang from something. I gave it to the girl doing my exam & she was tickled pink. I really liked adding the ribbon. just sandwich it inside so it stitches at the top on the final sew.. I'll do another one today & send a pic..all of these are adorable & you can easily personalize them too! |

| Ok, I give up, gotta ask. If these are made in the hoop, do you have to put the color thread in the bobbin so it sews out on the right side of the purse? I never made anything in the hoop before, and I can't quite visualize this. Cutie Pie did give us directions for the zipper but if there are directions for the rest of the purse, I missed them. What stabilizer do you all use? Tearaway? Thanks for your help, Marji |

What I have done for the little purses is I have hooped tear-away for the zipper side and then cut-away when I do the front. You should stitch the zipper and then completely re-hoop to do the other side.
You don't use the bobbin thread to create the picture, as you suggested Marji, but rather just stitch it as you would any design. Then, when you get to the final color, you center the zipper side (right sides together) on top of the front of the bag. Be sure that any metal parts are out of the area that is being stitched! When the final stitching is done, it has sewn the outline of the bag. You then carefully cut out the shape (don't cut through the stitching) and turn it right-side-out through the zipper opening. That way, the outline stitch and the cut edge don't show on the completed purse. Does that make sense to everyone?
Have fun with these, and post pictures if you can!! _________________ -Forum Moderator-

Ladies, after you sew out the zipper part put it aside do a bunch of them at 1 time. Then hoop your matching fabric & stitch out ANY design you have I think the animal alpha wold make a cute little kids purse with their initial on the front..but we have tons of suitable designs. then lay your zipper piece upside down on top of the hooped piece & finish the shape stitching if you have the square or flower whatever just don't limit it to the one design on the front. turn it inside right through the zipper & its true, you can 6 or more in an hour...I intend to do some today & will post a pic. I too love these designs and have purchased both sets. I add a ribbon and key chain hook in the final step. Will be a great place to hold coins for parking metors or a cup of java. I want to make them all............... |
