Hello,
I want to make handkerchiefs for our parents for our wedding this fall. How does one use the fonts on this site. The fonts that are preprogramed in my machine come up as a set and I just type what I want. For the fonts on this site, do I have to place the letters as individual designs, or is there some way to auto space them? Also, the fonts seem kind of large for what I want, is there a minimum size under which sewing would be difficult?

Thanks for any Help!

Some of what are called fonts here are actually more like Monograms in that they are just the capital letters and are rather large ~1.5 - 2 inches. The other fonts here are also large for a small project... I do not think any are under 1" tall and that might be rather big for doing words on a handkerchief...
If you do use any of the beautiful / fun fonts here they would be used like individual designs. If you have a program that allows you to integrate different designs before loading them in your machine or if your machine allows for merging of designs once they are in it's memory that would be the easiest way to do it. Otherwise you will have to plot and mark where the letters (designs) need to be. If you can only set one design at a time and use a really small frame these sorts of fonts will be a bit tougher for you to use.

Your design placement, stabilizer and hooping on thin material will be touchier than with other types of designs but it is quite do-able! I work with pretty small lettering sometimes... I do lettering (wording) on t-shirts for myself and my kids that are at times under 1 centimeter tall. The type of font may make it harder to read... so the smaller it is, the simpler it should really be.
Are you looking for fonts for lettering? or just Initials (monograms)? Let us know what you need, more specifically, and we will do all we can to help!
