I have 3D Suite by Pfaff which is IDENTICAL to the Viking 3D Professional Software. I also have PEDesign 5 and never use it as it it hard to use and not intuitive.

I assume that you are refering to the 3D Professional program.

I love my 3D and use the digitizer, stitch editor and base software all the time (I have a babylock so I can not use the Send feature) . I think it is easy to use and the learning curve is not bad! If you purchase it from a dealer you also should get lessons. My humble opinion is that it is worth the big bucks for the bigger of the two - the Viking Studio is good but lacks the stitch editor and digitizer. These can be added on later if you wish - but by the time you do that you come pretty close to the 3D Professional price -

Good Luck - hope this helps!

I have a Designer-1. Just before the first of the year I traded up my 3D pro for 4D pro. Although I haven't had the chance to use it much, what I have used I love!

I also have Generations. While I use it for some things, I much prefer 4D.

In my opinion 4D pro is better than 3D pro. I like the filmstrip for changing things around much more quickly. While I use the manual digitizing more, I have done a couple quick-and-dirties in auto and for what I did with it I thought it worked better than the old Auto-digitizing, although the graphics have to be much cleaner.

It is pricey - even the upgrade - but it was worth it to me. For anyone who doesn't own a Viking or a Pfaff, they probably wouldn't want the expense - especially if they couldn't use the embroidery system to translate it into code for their machine. It works with PES, PEC, VIP, VP3, HUS, XXX, JEF, SEW, EXP, PCS, DST, and 10o. It doesn't work with ART or CND.

If you're thinking about a large investment in software, I suggest checking it out at a dealer. Have them show you everything and ask to play with it in the store to see just how user-friendly it is. Most dealers offer classes; check to see if they charge or not.

If there's a large sale going on, or if the dealer is at a large event such as a fair or expo, they might be willing to come down in price or make a package deal. That's how I got my machine, software, and serger.

Whenever thinking of making a large purchase such as machines, software, cabinetry, etc, I suggest making a list of questions and ask away, ask to try things out that are on display (it'll either make you more secure in your descision or chase you out the door and in another dirction), make a list of pros and cons and compare products (you might think you want one thing but might find something even better), ask for a deal ("If I pay cash tomorrow, what kind of deal will you give me?), don't fall for pressure sales (this offer is only good for an hour or until the end of business today). It's your money until you hand it over; make sure you're happy with parting with it for what it will get you. I was.

Good luck.

Great answer, Quiltersblock. Very Happy I don't have a Husqvarna, I have a Janome, but I did get the best software they had to offer, Janome Digitizer Pro. I have never used any other software, so maybe some of the ones I have seen recommended, like Embird, are just as good, and they say they are cheaper. However Exclamation , I feel I got a great deal on the machine and software, my dealer offers lessons and support for both, and I can do anything I want with it. I manually digitize, but like you, Quiltersblock, I have done some quick & dirty auto stuff for things that were like gag gifts, something I needed quickly. I just feel that you get what you pay for. The Digitizer Pro is totally complete, there are no 'add ons' to buy. Yes, it was expensive, but I do use every bit of it, and the learning curve was minimal for me. But I AM a computer geek, and there isn't a software that gets the better of me, no sireee bob. Shocked It depends on what you're going to do, but I think if you have software that is understandable, and that makes manual digitizing possible for you with a minimum of fuss, then you'll end up doing more, being more creative, and in the end have more fun and make the best possible use of your machine. When you think of the price of some of the professionally done embroidery cards & disks, well how long would it take you to pay for the software? I have only bought one disk, from Dakota, & that was a ripoff of sorts. There was a design on it that I had to fix before I even used it!! It had all kinds of wierd stray stitches in lettering where they didn't belong, and not jumps either, just plain old mistakes! So I fixed it with Digitizer Pro, and vowed to just digitize my own & save money. Rambling, girls, but I hope this helps you make your decision about the software. Best of luck to you,
Marji Very Happy

I am not familiar with that digitizing program. Is it from Husqvarna or is it a second-party (after market) program?
Personally, I would try and get hold of someone at the Stitching Post where you bought it. If it was bought second hand (used) then the company who wrote it would probably not give you any support.

A kernal32.dll error is usually when a program tries to access memory that the computer has reserved. Rarely is it that that dll file is corrupt...fixing messed up .dlls can be sort of 'hairy scarry' anyway. Have you tried uninstalling the program (using Windows Control Panel or the program's own uninstaller) and re-installing it?

I have seen this error in newer computers with more than 1 Gig of RAM that are being run with an old OS like Windows Millenium or Windows 98 too... It could be a number of things IF it was the computer at fault. If the same program causes the error every time though I would suspect the program's compatibility with your computers operating system or maybe the program has become corrupt and needs re-installing. I would try to get hold of a group, maybe on Yahoo Groups?, where there are others have the same program and see if they can advise you further
I am sorry I could not be of more help...

Silver
