Hi!
My husband and I belong to the Shriners. I would like your permission to add a hat to some of your designs. I will attach one to show you what I mean. I would like to use your designs for some T shirts, bookmarks, etc. on a few things for the Shriners and their wifes.
Thanks you |

Thank you for looking for permission. However, I am not one who can give it. You need to write directly to the site owners for that. If you go to Designsbysick.com/helpdesk, you will be able to get in contact with them and get the answers you are looking for.
By the way, it is not permitted to distribute designs that you are not the copyright holder on, and that is why I have removed your attachment. I know that it was simply a mistake and you didn't know better, so that will be the end of any mention about it from my end. Good luck with your project. _________________ -Forum Moderator-

| I understand the need to protect copyrights, so that is not a factor for me. What I do not understand is the comment about not agreeing with their "tactics." Does that mean the Shriners (which supports a children's hospital and many good things) or the tactics requesting a place to post the design? I am not a Shriner, nor do I belong to anything but a golf club and a charity group (Mouses and Spouses) which makes lap quilts for a nursing home and for a domestic abuse shelter, but I am really confused about the "tactics" comment. Forgive me if I overstep; I am new to this forum site. |

Actually, Jeanrabe, your confusion is partially my fault. This thread was in the wrong forum, and I just neglected to move it to the proper one.
The "tactics" that were being referred to has nothing to do with the Shriners (who are a lovely group). That is all about the "Embroidery Software Protection Coalition". They are a group that have been going around and threatening people who have purchased (or received in another way) designs that are copyrighted, but were not received from the copyright holder. In other words, stolen designs. The "Coalition" appears to be made up of bullies who scare people into paying them money with the threat of lawsuits, and are not even always associated with the actual copyright holders themselves.
Anyway, I have moved this thread so hopefully there will be no other confusion. Welcome to the forum, and feel free to ask any questions you may have. I doubt that you could "cross over" any "line" with asking actual, real questions. _________________ -Forum Moderator-
