Jean,
I have Palette 6 which is similar to PE 6. You need to get help from your dealer to get it to recognize the usb box. I installed my program on 3 different computers and had to do it 3 different ways. I know this doesn't help much but it does tell you it isn't easy to do. The other programs you have I have no clue as how to help, sorry.

I have Palette 6 and am learning how to use it. My operating system is XP. If you have "plug n play" activated on your computer, once you install your software, and then plug the USB into your computer, it should automatically recognize it.

I am very new to this and bought all my equipment used. I have a bernina deco 500, then got the amazing box, then the pe design 5 and I had windows xp. My pe crashed my first computer twice. they sent me a new disk and I put it on another computer so I wouldn't take the risk of crashing my main computer again. It went on, but I never tried to open it until a few weeks ago. It would not recognize my amazing box usb. I also have 2 disk from the pallette box( I think) and could not write from my amazing box. I now found out it will read them, but won't write to them. I don't remember why, but in some of my research, found out several people were having trouble with xp, so I now have 2000 on my embroidery computer, but pe design still will not recognize my usb amazing box. I read yesterday that pe design works with pe box only. I don't know if that is true, but so many have not been able to use amazing box usb. and I bought the pe 5 off ebay, and I think it is just a copy. So I downloaded directly from pe website, it still does not work. I am now waiting to save up and get ultimate box plus, embird, and have bought embroid magic 2 to do my lettering. I have downloaded 2 free commercial lettering programs, but cannot get them back into pes. But I have had a blast learning these programs, and getting my designs like I want them, my computer just has them locked away until I figure out how to retreive them. LOL

The easiest way to get text into your embroidery is to use the fonts in your computer.

In PED v 6 Go to Layout and editing.
click on the "A" on the left hand side of the design area
the tool bar at the top should change, and you should see a box with the name of the TRUE TYPE fonts in your computer.

set it for one you like ( the design should be rather thick. I have done beautiful work with "Loki Cola" free from dafonts.com)

click on the stitch field ( abox with all of the available letters will show up)
Double click the letters you want or type the word.

click OK

the image should be automatically digitized for you.
You can adjust the size by chosing the big arrow on the left , clicking on the text then moving the little boxes

IF you get a blank screen with one stitch the font is too complex

****you can also use wingding fonts to automatically digitize small pictures.

Let me know if you have questions or if this meets your needs.
Happy stitching
