Well, the most important thing to remember is that if you don't hoop it straight, you can NEVER get it to sew straight.

There are marks on the hoop itself to show where the center is located, both vertical and horizontal. If you mark where you want to sew on your item (towel, blanket, etc) and line it up with those marks, you will have no problems with it sewing crooked.

I prefer to sew on towels by hooping just my heavy weight tear-away or wash-away stablizer and then pinning the towel in place onto that, in the hoop. I use quilters' straight pins because they are longer than regular dress-maker's pins. Be sure that there are no pins in the way of the sewing field (where the needle might hit one) before you start the machine. If you are sewing somewhere on the towel besides the woven band, you might want to put wash-away topper on top of the towel (this is the stuff that looks like saran-wrap) to keep the loops of the towel from peeking through the stitching, although that is not strictly necessary.

Um . . . anyone else have any tips for sewing on towels to share? Smile

#1 I always mark a center horozontal and vertical line first.
#2 Stabilize under the towel [i use iron on Totally stable by Sulky]
#3 Then all the way loosen my hoop screw,
#4 Position the towel in the hoop
#5 Checking that the cross hair lines line up with the template.
#6 Snap on hoop.
#7.Tighten the hoop screw
#8 Line up the machine to the marked crosshairs
#9 Add a thin wss [water souable stabilizer] sheet on top.
[ to keep stitching from sinking into the terry cloth]
#10 Push start.
