What is digitizing and how is it different from regular embroidery? Confused

I will try and give a 'small' answer lol. (Anyone who knows me knows how much I ramble on... lol)
Digitizing is HOW a design is created.
You start with a picture or image and decide how to outline and/or 'fill' it with stitches... Some people do it by 'hand' (punching) one stitch at a time, some use programs that lay down areas of 'fill', some use auto-digitizing programs that make all the decisions (some of those auto decisions are not quite what you want lol) for you.
And 'Tah Dah!'
A picture is now a design! Most programs have you save the design in their own proprietary format and then you 'export' them in the format that you need for a particular kind of machine (ie PES, XXX, DST, JEF etc)

Thanks Silver, but I think that I will stick with what I know. I got a late start on this new tech stuff. That lol reminded me of someone that I have enjoyed meeting on the embroidery webs. Could that be you???????????????

Ya never know... I seem to be gaining a reputation...in here at least Shocked

lol... I have been online with this nickname ('Silver') or variations thereof for going on 2 decades now.
If not...I am glad to meet you. If you ever need any help learning something I know even a bit about (just call me a 'Jill of all trades...master on none' Wink

) I will be glad to help, as will many others who are far smarter than I am that 'reside' in here, in any way that we possibly can.
BTW Did ya know you can download demos of digitizing programs? You might just get bit by the digitizing bug like the rest of us!
